MPN Indonesia 22 Mei 2026 - Olivia Rodrigo merilis single terbaru bertajuk ‘The Cure’ yang menjadi bagian dari album mendatang You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love.

Lagu ini sebelumnya diumumkan Olivia Rodrigo melalui unggahan di Instagram pribadinya, @oliviarodrigo.

Lagu tersebut menjadi lanjutan dari single sebelumnya berjudul ‘Drop Dead’.

Klarifikasi Olivia Rodrigo soal Judul Lagu

Perilisan lagu ‘The Cure’ memunculkan spekulasi publik terkait judul lagu yang sama dengan nama band Inggris The Cure.

Dalam wawancara di Elvis Duran Show pada Kamis (21/5), Olivia Rodrigo memberikan klarifikasi mengenai inspirasi lagu tersebut.

“Jujur saja lagu ini, ‘The Cure,’ tidak ada hubungannya dengan band itu,” kata dia, dikutip MPN Indonesia dari People.

“Meskipun saya sangat menyukainya, ini hanyalah sebuah kebetulan yang menyenangkan,” sambungnya.

Kendati demikian, Olivia Rodrigo menyebut vokalis The Cure, Robert Smith, sebagai teman dekat dan mengaku sering berkomunikasi secara rutin.

“Saya mencintainya. Kami mengobrol hampir setiap minggu. Dia luar biasa,” katanya.

Makna Lagu ‘The Cure’

Olivia Rodrigo mengungkap bahwa lagu ‘The Cure’ membahas kesadaran emosional dalam hubungan.

Ia menjelaskan bahwa lagu tersebut menggambarkan proses seseorang yang awalnya percaya bahwa cinta dapat menyelesaikan masalah pribadi, namun kemudian menyadari bahwa hal tersebut tidak sepenuhnya benar.

“Ini tentang bagaimana, ketika kamu masih muda, kamu berpikir jatuh cinta dengan seseorang akan menyelesaikan semua masalahmu. Dan kemudian, ketika kamu menghadapi cinta dalam kenyataan, kamu menyadari bahwa itu bukanlah kebenaran,” ujarnya.

“Jadi ini hanyalah cara saya berdamai dengan hal-hal yang ingin saya perbaiki tentang diri saya atau hal-hal yang saya pikir akan diselesaikan oleh cinta. Dan ternyata, tidak,” sambungnya.
